License and sources
The etymologies, definitions, glosses and quotations on this site come from Wiktionary, by Wiktionary contributors, under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).
We use the machine-readable extraction published by kaikki.org (wiktextract), English Wiktionary dump of Oct 3 2026.
Changes made: the text is adapted. Each etymology is parsed into a lineage of older forms; glosses are shortened or merged with the glosses of the older forms’ own Wiktionary entries; word families and pairs are computed from those lineages. Each word page links to every Wiktionary entry it draws on.
The adapted etymology data is shared under the same license, CC BY-SA 4.0. Language period ranges are conventional ranges, not dates for individual words.
Runic forms are set in Noto Sans Runic, SIL Open Font License 1.1. Text is set in ET Book (MIT License).
